Jeffrey S. Gard is a lawyer focusing on criminal defense, civil litigation and serious injury cases. He has litigated hundreds of cases, many through trial, in both state and federal courts. Jeff also successfully litigated and argued cases before the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court.
Jeff is a hard-nosed litigator whose tenacity earns him the respect of his colleagues, judges and clients. Based on his reputation for meticulous preparation and well-honed trial skills, Jeff is often hired by fellow attorneys to help with cases where settlement has failed and the case must be taken to trial.
By way of background, Jeff is a Colorado native and a Cum Laude Philosophy graduate from the University of Colorado, where he also was elected Phi Beta Kappa, the country’s oldest honor society. While attending the law school, Jeff won the William De Souchet Award for best individual performance in trial advocacy and won a multi-state moot court competition during his first year of law school. After graduation, Jeff accepted a position with Sanderson & Associates (later Sanderson & Gard), a respected litigation firm in Boulder, Colorado. Jeff later formed his own firm and moved the office to downtown Boulder.
Among other things, Jeff is a nationally recognized lawyer and lecturer on the subject of litigating carbon monoxide induced brain injury cases. In recognition for his efforts to help victims of carbon monoxide poisoning, Jeff was asked to join forces with prominent carbon monoxide researcher, professor and author, Dr. David Penney, and respected neuropsychologist, Dr. Dennis Helffenstein, to teach lawyers and medical professionals how to help carbon monoxide injured victims navigate the legal system.
Jeff served two terms as the chair of the Civil Litigation Section of the Boulder County Bar Association, where he received special recognition for conscientious performance. Jeff is a member of the Faculty of Federal Advocates, a small group of lawyers and judges working to improve the federal court system.
Finally, Jeff is one of only a handful of attorneys in the state of Colorado to become a Life Member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar. The Colorado Criminal Defense Bar is dedicated to protecting the rights of people accused of crimes.
Anna E. V. Bond
Anna Bond is an experienced lawyer focusing on family law and civil litigation. Anna handles cases involving millions of dollars in assets and the complexities of contentious divorces involving young children. Whether the case is large or small, Anna endeavors to find a reasonable solution. If that is not possible, Anna has the skills necessary to take the case to trial.
Anna was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. She attended Mary Baldwin College graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. While at Mary Baldwin College, Anna served as the president of the Student Alumnae Partnership Committee and was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership and honor society. Anna served on the judicial board and was a member of the President’s Society. She was a student speaker at the Virginia Association of Independent College Presidents Annual Meeting and was a big sister in the Big Brother/Big Sister program in Staunton, Virginia.
After graduation, Anna worked for the Japan Exchange in Teaching Program in Fukuoka, Japan, where she taught English in the local junior high school, as well as in the two local elementary schools.
Anna received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Law, where she was elected President of the Student Bar Association. She served as the student member of the Dean’s Search Committee. Anna was the recipient of the King award for outstanding leadership and service to the school. Anna also participated in the Civil Legal Aid Clinic, where she represented indigent women in dissolution of marriage proceedings and child custody cases. Anna was a summer intern at the Attorney General’s office before joining Gard & Associates, an established litigation firm in Boulder, Colorado. Anna is now a partner with the firm and leads the family law department.
Ms. Bond is a member of the Boulder County Bar Association and of the Colorado Bar Association.
Michael Aaronson is an associate attorney focusing on family law. Michael is also experienced in elder law and civil litigation.
Michael was born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in Denver, Colorado from the age of two. He graduated from George Washington High School in 2002 before attending Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He graduated from Brandeis in 2006 with Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Economics and Psychology, with a Legal Studies minor.
Michael attended the University of Colorado Law School. During law school, Michael interned with Magistrate Judge MacLean in the 20th Judicial District Court. He also worked as an extern in the Municipal Operations section of the Denver City Attorney’s Office. Michael participated in the Family Law Legal Aid Clinic, where he represented indigent clients in dissolution of marriage and allocation of parental responsibilities cases.
After graduating from law school, Michael started a law practice in Englewood, Colorado centered around family law issues. During that time he was also a law clerk for Boulder County District Court Magistrate Judges Norma Sierra and Lisa Hamilton-Fieldman. In that capacity, he reviewed family law cases, conducted research, and drafted legal memoranda for Magistrate Sierra, and reviewed discovery case law and drafted discovery-related orders for Magistrate Hamilton-Fieldman.
Michael joined Gard & Bond in April 2012.
Michael is a member of the Boulder County Bar Association and the Colorado Bar Association.
